PARISH BACKGROUND In 1986, a small group of Romanians located in Vancouver and Lower Mainland decided to establish a parish. The Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Parish was establish from the beginning under the jurisdiction of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America and His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel.During 1987-1992 the Parish held its services in various locations, the most important being Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church from Vancouver where its community hall, at that time, served perfectly the purposes of the Parish. From 1992 till 2003 the Parish was serving at St Michael`s Anglican Church on 409 East Broadway in Vancouver, B.C.Through the love and dedication of its parishioners, the parish added to its value numerous religious items, icons, vestments, and books, many of them bought from Greece in a total worth of 30.000 CAD as well as an audio system designed especially for services. In 1999 'George Enescu' Romanian Cultural organization has donated to our Parish over 400 volumes in Romanian language. Also we are happy to offer VHS movies in Romanian language and English, thus giving the opportunity to our members to keep alive their language and spirituality.Our Parish has also a beautiful and valuable collection of Romanian national clotting both for mens and women.Since 2000 the number of those who have been attending the services at this church increased, many of them coming in the last five years from Romania. Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church has brethren and open relationships with other Churches from Lower Mainland on the West Coast of Pacific and participates actively at many organized multicultural events from Vancouver.As of 02 December 2003 the Romanian Orthodox Parish is the owner of Nidaros church from New Westminster. By purchasing the Nidaros church the Romanian congregation has gain its own place to worship God and the appreciation of New Westminster's community for saving the church from demolition.
